A New Jersey operative, “Leslie,” sends us a couple of scans and writes, “My father just called me and asked if I had read the 500 word essay on the NJ Governor’s Sample Ballot. I just did, and it is such beautiful madness, I had to share it with you.” It is a completely great essay from petition candidate Gary Stein, who is running with his wife on the “Fools Rush In” Party ticket. Let’s see what he has to say, about politics.                                       (Navigation Button Above: Possible Endorsement)

10/09  Asbury Park Press  “…… three of the 12 gubernatorial candidates in Tuesday's election returned questionnaires from Project Vote Smart soliciting their views on issues, further demonstrating the contempt incumbents and challengers alike have for the voter.”                                                             (Navigation Button: Since You Asked)

Sample-  Question:Health care   Answer:[Greatly Increase]     Expanded Answer: In other "venues," where "we," were invited to go "mano y mano" with the elite establishment "favorites", I've said w/flourish and great fanfare- kill a few unimportant state agencies that were created in fat times when the taxpayer was snoozing.  Take some of that saved money and "greatly increase" health care.  Here's what's important about that idea.  Conservatives might be so impressed that  some government entity, might actually cease to exist, they'd possibly go along with Democrats attempts to transform health care; because even some Republican's have a heart.  I'm Republican.

Question 4: What has been the most difficult thing about running for Governor?

Getting the word out; getting noticed- plain and simple. In its place you have to resort to smart allecky answers in questionnaires like this.

Closing Statement of Hall’s Virtual Debate

....But if I was leading the revolution here, I wouldn’t be cowed by the idea of shutting the New Jersey state government down for a while; and there certainly are endless opportunities to push the right buttons!  It might give the public sector a chance to reflect.  Unfortunately it’s more likely the legislature would call for my impeachment, and union pickets all over Trenton would scream and curse my name- but we’d know finally, if we the over looked and taken for granted citizens, are as mad as we say we are.

League of Women Voters Questions to Gubernatorial candidates  Question #10 of 14                                                    (Navigation button: Part 4)

Question  10   The state Constitution does not clearly define the role and responsibility of the Lieutenant Governor.  What exact responsibilities will your running mate have if you are elected?

Gary Stein (Independent, multiple slogans) – Mrs. Stein did me a big favor running for the position of NJ’s- first- lieutenant governor. If we win, she can either submit her resignation on Nov. 4th, the day after, or she can focus on animal rights and health care. The former being her passion, the latter her new cause because she’s so grateful to finally have excellent coverage, and remembers those that don’t.

News Flash!!!!  2/05/2010  While separating and highlighting bunched up questions and answers to Project Vote Smart, navigation button "Since You Asked" I came across this jewel.  I'd forgotten is was there, and it's nice to see it because the other night on the nightly news there was a segment on Harvard University's new program to recruit school principals and teach them managerial skills.  The course is free and there's a huge waiting list.

k) Other or expanded principles

[Answer: Rather then go the merit pay route with teachers- and battle their union, how about merit pay for principals and superintendents?  How about giving  superintendents a chance to cover two districts?  No?  So don't take a lesson from GM!  They axed  divisions and cut costs...they did it kicking and screaming ( that's the private sector, good luck with public one)

Nothing like a good head start on next "seasons" responsibilities (...and with a tip of the old hat to the Great White Way, this years Gubernatorial candidate says, "never say never, wait till next year,  ........." )
